Might 'and' Right
Might and Right have always been on the same side. Like professional wrestlers, like any sporting contest, its exhibitions and competitions are arenas where our heroes act out the fantasy that we are the agents of our fate. We matter in the opposition, and "right" is defined by might's relent. The sides have always been manufactured, whether the artifice is obvious or subtle. Football teams can arouse our patriotic and religious passions, just as nativism and racial identity can. Ideologies can be as simple as a flag, an icon, or a football jersey, and any of them can be as complicated as the statisticians, theologians, or political pundits care to make them.
We are right, or we are powerful, but we're spectators and participants in the same game. Power's real opposition are those who walk away, who simply dodge the iron fist and doubt the orthodoxies of every true believer. Power's real opposition is invisible and ostensibly harmless. Gandhi and MLK understood that, but they, too, were made first heroes and, then, martyrs by the State. And martyrs, it's sad to say, are merely added to the panoply of symbols for the games that arouse the passion necessary to sustain the State.

It's a delight to find an intellectual relative who fluently converses about physics,
mathematics, philosophy, history, politics, ...
I enjoyed all the posts I've read so far. I also agree with the PCAPPC philosophy.
I am curious about your profession.
I too concur with John Ralston Saul's take on issues.
(By the way, I have Metis status in Canada through someone married to our mutual
Blodgett descendent, Abraham Young who's grandpa's or dad's generation used LaJeunesse - French for "young".
I am a descendant of Katherine "Blodgett" and Marten Wynen.
As you know, Katherine is a daughter of Wenzel Blazek and Anna Pelishek.
Katherine is also a sister to your ancestor Lillian Blodgett.
Katherine and Marti/en Wynen (Wijnen) settled and worked in Appleton WI,
which is where I currently reside.
They had a daughter Anna who is quite clearly on the census, however, some family
trees don't include her.
Anna married Jerry Young (born of Henry LaJeunesse/anglicized to Young and
Elnora/Laura Suprise/Suprenant.
Jerry Young & Anna (Wynen) had Abraham Young, who married Esther Herminath.
They had 12 children. I am one of their many grandchildren!
I am about 30 miles from the Green Bay area.
You have piqued my interest on Wenzel Blazek / James Blodgett's GRAVE location.
Any leads since your post about the couple in your blog "Ancestry of Arthur ..."?
Does Leonor have any descendents in this area who I can speak with?
Kind Regards,
